Acupuncture
$90.00
Acupuncture is the treatment modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which is most widely used, recognized and taught in the Western world. For thousands of years, acupuncture has been used traditionally to prevent, diagnose and treat disease as well as to improve general health.
It presupposes the existence of a vital energy, or “Qi” (pronounced “chi”), that is essential to life and that flows throughout the body. This energy is transported by a system of channels called meridians.
Acupuncture points are found on the surface of your body and at very specific locations along the meridians. The selection and method of stimulation of these points are determined by the acupuncturist and based on Traditional Chinese Medicine energy and pattern diagnosis. By selecting a combination of points, the treatment will have an effect on one or more bodily organs, areas or functions, and therefore act on a set of varied symptoms related to the initial cause of the imbalance.
Besides needles, what other techniques are used?
An acupuncture treatment can also comprise other methods, such as:
• Moxibustion, which involves burning an herb called mugwort on the end of a needle or near an acupuncture point;
• Ba Guan Zi (cupping), which is the use of suction cups applied to an acupuncture point or moved along a meridian;
• Pi Fu Zhen, also called plum blossom, which is a small hammer-like tool inlaid with seven very fine needle tips that is lightly tapped on the skin;
• Contemporary methods include the use of very mild electric stimulation applied to the needles to enhance the acupuncture treatment
• Tui Na: a TCM method of treatment that uses specific massage techniques to stimulate points, meridians or regions of the body based on the inherent principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupressure is one of the techniques, amongst many others, used in Tuina.
Aculifting (Esthetics)
$110.00
Esthetic acupuncture is a holistic treatment that improves the appearance and texture of your skin, allowing your face to regain its radiant complexion. By activating the circulation of Qi and blood, Aculifting reduces the bags under the eyes, reduces drooping eyelids, reduces wrinkles and gives you a revitalized look.
After an intake, a pattern diagnosis will be made so that other acupuncture points can be added to your treatment to make it more complete. If one is not eating or digesting well, hydrating properly, sleeping regularly, or is anxious, this will all show up on our skin.
As with any type of acupuncture session, the whole of the person is considered before choosing our acupuncture points. This treatment can be given in prevention, before the appearance of the wrinkles but it is also a cure when the wrinkles or the imperfections are already visible.
A typical treatment begins with a cleanse and a facial and neck massage. Low-frequency magnets may be used around the eyes if there are dark or puffy circles. Then short, thin, gold plated needles are inserted in carefully chosen areas around your face. The use of electro-stimulater (TENS machine) may also assist in circulating the Qi and blood around the wrinkles or to stimulate the muscles so we can encourage their tonicity. (A toned muscle is not a sagging muscle.) After all this is done, the treatment will end with a facial massage.
