My interests growing up were; dancing, painting, singing, calligraphy, literature and human psychology. But it was the healing arts that always captivated me and led me to years of exploration. I began studying naturopathy at the Natural Health Consultant Institute in Montreal, Quebec in 2000. It introduced me to the beginnings of anatomy, physiology, biology, herbology, homeopathy, Therapeutic Touch and many more subjects. It also gave me a first insight into how important it was to work on myself if I was to work in a therapeutic relationship with others.

After years of studying, I became eager to get into a manual therapy so I became certified in Shiatsu massage in 2005. In 2008, I studied Thai massage in Thailand and studied Cranial Sacral therapy with the Upledger Institute in 2009. During a period of 5 years I studied internal martial arts (Bagua and XingYi) at the Montreal Gong Fu Research Center, a school affiliated with the North American Tang Shou Tao. My martial arts teacher, Ethan Murchie, a certified acupuncturist, became my mentor as I was trained to teach beginner students Bagua and Meridien Qi Gong. I eventually started to practice tuina and cranial sacral therapy with him in his acupuncture clinic, which was conveniently located in the same space where we trained in martial arts. This was my first exposure to seeing how an acupuncture clinic could be run and how useful it is to use other healing modalities in conjunction with acupuncture. This all made me quite ready to formally pursue my own license in acupuncture.

Since graduating in acupuncture from Rosemont College in 2017, I have found inspiration from recent teachers like the late Master Tung Ching Chang, who has been referred to as the greatest acupuncture technician who has ever lived, and to the late Dr Richard Teh Fu Tan, who brilliantly synthesized the teachings of many of the greats, making his work hugely accessible to acupuncture practitioners of today. Dr Tan’s style of acupuncture, called the Balance Method, offers a very effective way in helping people recover from injuries or from chronic pain. I have completed advanced seminars in the Balance Method with the disciples of Dr Richard Tan in the summer and fall of 2018. In the fall of 2017/winter of 2018, I have completed the seminar in obstetrics at Lasalle Hospital with Jean Levesque. It was Mr Levesque who paved the way in making acupuncture available to women giving birth in hospitals in Quebec. It is a true pleasure to see how effective acupuncture is when it comes to gynecological issues and reproductive health.
